Paul, Walter, Matt, Peter, and Hamilton from The Walkmen recently stopped by our studios in the Bronx to perform a few tunes off their latest record "You & Me". The once native New Yorkers are currently on tour with Kings of Leon. We asked our twitter followers to submit questions. Listen to the full interview by clicking...
NEW MUSIC: Passion Pit - Moth's Wings
via Stereogum: If you're behind on your RSS, you missed the collective realization that Passion Pit are appearing as more than a one-hit-EP wonder, when Scott highlighted the Boston synthpoppers stuck-on-repeat song/video "The Reeling." Would it be too much to ask for both of their Manners LP's lead track to be ecstatic dancefloor homers?
The Alternate Side Weekend Report: Apr 30th-May 3rd
It seems like the indie rock scene is just inundated with this band prototype: four guys with greasy hair and tight pants. Well guess what. Girls can wear the pants too! This weekend, get in touch with your feminine side at these shows around NYC. These gals put Hannah Montana to shame; they actually have talent and can rock it just as hard as the boys.

National Record Store Day
I think it’s safe to say that most people buy their music through the internet nowadays. There’s no arguing that digital music is instant ear pleasing gratification, but there is something magical about tangible forms of recorded music. I’m talking about analog. 33 1/3, 45, 78. VINYL. It’s just glorious the way a record feels in your hand as you trace the black grooves with your fingers. Just think of how the friendly cashier at your favorite record store rings up that elusive LP that you’ve finally found and how you’ll be shaking with anticipation until you get it back to your place and drop that needle on your turntable.

Break out those loud, neon sunglasses this weekend; it’s gonna be a sunny one! All you rock and roll hipsters will finally have a legitimate reason to sport those phosphorescent shades. You can even wear your sunglasses at night too. So run on over to your nearest Urban Outfitters (or dollar store, which probably has the same glasses) and grab some peeper protection and go to a show!

The Alternate Side Weekend Report: Apr 9-12th
Sometimes the best bands aren’t the headliners. It’s an odd occurrence, but this seems to be happening at a lot of shows in NYC this weekend. Not to say that the band on your ticket stub isn’t worthy of their 11pm time slot, I’m just saying that it’s a good idea to get to the show early and check out the opening acts; you might just find yourself having that wonderful experience of discovering your next favorite band unexpectedly!
Video: In-studio with Cotton Jones
It was a great day at the office when one of my favorite new bands came in to our studio A - Cotton Jones. I've become a bit obsessed with their album, "Paranoid Cocoon" This is the type of album that you can have on repeat for hours, maybe even days. There are gorgeous harmonies and lush arrangements on the record. It's true that it's very melancholy, but some of the most beautiful music is.

The Alternate Side Weekend Report: Apr 2-5th
I’m sorry to report that there won’t be any bands playing this weekend in NYC. …April Fools! I’m sure I really got you with that one. April is a funny month. In fact, it’s National Humor Month. But it would be no laughing matter if you missed any of the amazing shows happening this weekend. I don’t care if it’s raining; cut the funny business and come out to these shows!
